This rather scarce Throwing knife is coming from the Nile region and was in use by the Masalit people. It differs from the many other throwing knives coming from the same region by the sharpened double edge long peak, which make this type also functional as a thrust weapon. Most of the known similar throwing knives are plain. This one has minimal geometric engraving at the junction of the cross bar. The original handle is made from weaved leather strips.
Length 28 1/2 inches (72 cm). Very good condition to age. Losses to the leather strips of the handle. Authentic and rare late 19 C. implement.
