Top Quality Highly Decorated Hungarian Magnate Sword

Date: Late 19C.

Magnate is a high rank of nobility in Hungary, hence Magnate sword is the title given to high quality richly decorated swords, supposedly carried by members of the house of Magnate in Hungary.

The sword offered here can rightfully titled Magnate sword. Late 19 C. probably a presentation sword. Finely forged fullered blade engraved with celestial marks of sun moon and stars, and  a shield as well as images of a noble  couple with the engraved inscription:  PATRONA HUNGARIA.  Engraved and gilded silver handle with lion head pommel and scabbard mounts. The handle and scabbard fittings are decorated with filigree silver panels on gold background, set with gemstones, pearls and pink enameled flowers.

Blade 31 inches long.  Total length 38 inches. Very good condition. Few stones are missing.
