Fine Kattar Dagger from the Bikaner armory with Hanuman, the Monkey God.

Hanuman, the monkey god in the Hindu mythology is known as the patron of martial arts (as well as other important qualities) , therefore it is not a surprise to find it on warriors blades. It is proudly displayed on the fine and heavy Kattar push dagger offered here.

Heavy blade forged from watered steel. As common on these blade, only the fuller is etched to expose the wootz pattern whereas  the edges are left polished. considerably thickened blade. An image of Hanuman, the  monkey god is deeply chiseled on both sides of the blade, holding a mace in one hand and a trident spear in the other hand.

The handle  side bars and the cross bars are all made from massive steel, also watered (But of a lower quality than the blade),  and marked with the classical dot marking attributed to the Bikaner armory.

A fine heavy dagger. blade 10 inches long. Total length 18 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Very minor edge nick.
