Whole Silver Fine Moroccan Koumaya Dagger

The Koumaya is the Moroccan version of the eastern curved  dagger. It was used both by the Berber and Arab people in Morocco. It is characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top (A strong Spanish influence). There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards.

The exemplar offered here is a fine whole silver from the ast quarter of the  20 C. employing an older blade. Both handle and scabbard are high quality silver chiseled in a classical design, set with small gold medallions and decorated with inlaid red and green glass pieces.

Blade 9 1/2 inches (24 cm).  Total length 16 1/2 inches (42 cm). Very good condition.
