Very Good Moroccan Koumaya Dagger

The Koumaya is the Moroccan version of the eastern curved dagger. It was used both by the Berber and Arab people in Morocco. It is characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top (A strong Spanish influence). There is a big variety of quality shapes materials and decoration styles.
The exemplar offered here is from the first half of the 20th C. Classical blade shape. Handle and scabbard are brass with silver thin sheet on the front face. The front face of the handle and scabbard is finely and beautifully worked filigree silver work. This Koumaya comes with a very long cotton baldric carrying belt.
Blade 9 1/2 inches (24 cm) long. Total length 15 1/2 inches (40 cm ) long. Very good condition. Very minimal losses to the silver. Beautiful authentic early 20 C. Koumaya
