Very Good Joulba Jambiya Dagger with Belt – Yemen

Date: First half of the 20 C.

The so called Joulba Jambiya daggers are coming from the Tihama region in Western Yemen, on the shores of the red sea. Typically they are less curved, sometimes longer than usual, having heavy whole silver scabbard. Clearly influenced by the long Daharia daggers from  Asir and Gizan to the North..

The Joulba dagger offered here is early 20 C. with classical very good double edged blade with pronounced central rib. Horn handle set with steel nails and two brass imitation coins. Very fine heavy whole silver scabbard with good filigree and granulation work.  Original back cover leather. This Jambiya comes with wide fabric belt with colorful embroidered design and one imitation silver amulet container (Hirz)

Blade 8 1/2 inches (22 cm). Total length 15 inches (38 cm). Belt length 39 inches (99 cm). Very good condition. Tip of blade is slightly reshaped.
