Very Good Heavy Bugis Keris Dagger
Bugis Keris
Origin: Sulawesi, Indonesia
Date: Early 20 C.

Bugis (Buginese) people are the biggest ethnic group from Sulawesi (Celebes) Island. They carry a very typical Keris dagger: Rather short with massive blade, scabbard with somewhat square lines and a pistol grip handle.
The very good Bugis Keris offered here is of typical character: Massive blade with clear pamor structure of very high contrast pattern. The mendak is pierced brass with granulation work. The hilt and the scabbard are carved from a grained wood in a classical Sulawesi style. Thye tip of the scabbard is ivory.
Blade 15 inches long. Total Length 19 inches. Very good condition. Very minor wood chips on the handle.
