The Qama offered here is a very fine example for gilded silver and niello work, made in Georgia and dated to 1915. Classical blade with an off-centered deep fuller engraved and signed: ilico.a.maskharshvili in one line and v.e.kharadze 1915 in another line. Probably the owners an/or the maker of this fine dagger.
The handle and scabbard heavy silver, finely and richly decorated with delicate filigree work of twisted and gilded silver wire and niello work. The back face is richly nielloed with floral design and also signed with the same name.
Blade 14 inches long. Total length 20 inches. Perfect, next to mint condition. Outstanding workmanship in gilded silver
