Very Fine Gilded Shamshir from Kutch India

Kutch district lies in Western India in Gujarat, on the shores of the Arabian sea. Swords from Kutch are outstanding in their decoration: Gilded handles and mounts with zoomorphic pommels, horses, lions etc., set with many colored stones and gilded scabbard mounts with chased floral design.
The fine shamshir sword shown here is of classical Kutch design: Blade of watered steel (Wootz). Gilded handle with horse head pommel set with colored stones. Scabbard with dark brown velvet and chased and gilded mounts.
Blade length 29 inches. Total length 34 inches. Very good condition. Pitted spots on the blade and it needs a good polish and etch to bring out the pattern. Rare authentic and fine 19C. sword
