Very Fine Georgian Powder Horn with Niello Decoration

Powder flasks were always important part in the accessories set of firearms. When it comes to fine sets, the flasks were decorated en-suite with the gun, and carried together. The flask shown here is Caucasian in origin. The silver work and Niello design suggests a Georgian origin.
The flattened horn is shaped similarly to metal flasks that were common to the whole area in the mid 19C. The silver mounts are finely pierced and decorated with niello design. A spring loaded silver lever open and lock the horn mouth.
Length 6 1/2 inches. Very good plus condition. 19 C. authentic and rare powder horn.
