Very Fine Caucasian Silver Qama Dagger with Exceptional Niello Design

The  Qama  offered here is a superb  example  of  a fine Niello work. Probably made in Georgia, very early 20 C. Classical wide blade with off-centered deep fuller. Horn grips with nielloed silver front cover and grip strap. Silver scabbard with open rear face set with green velvet. The niello decoration on the scabbard and the front cover of the handle is of exceptional quality and beauty. Rather scarce, known as flat niello work.

Blade 13 1/2  inches (35 cm) long. Total length 19 1/2 inches (50 cm). Very good condition.  Minor dents on the back side and small areas of later repairs.
