Very Fine and Complete Khyber Sword with Wootz Blade

The sword known as “Khayber Sword” is named after the famous mountain pass between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Though it is found all around: India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and also the bordering countries of Central Asia. The Khayber sword comes in different sizes, from large knife size to huge 40 plus inches blades. Very similar shape to all: Single edged with heavy triangular blade and strong  T spine. The better blade will be forged from Watered steel or pattern welded steel. The grips will come with a variety of materials. Mostly wood, horn, bone, ivory or jade.

The very  fine  exemplar of a long Khyber sword offered here is coming from North India, The heavy blade  is  forged from fine watered steel (wootz)  of good contrast pattern. So are the steel bolsters and grip strap. Pronounced T spine.  Ivory grips. Original wood scabbard  covered with tooled black leather and beautiful chased brass chape.  As sometimes common in the better exemplars, the sword goes all the way into the scabbard and only the tip of the pommel is exposed to allow  a convenient withdraw of the sword.

Blade length 23 inches. Total length 33 inches. Next to mint condition. Complete original and authentic sword.
