Unusual Heavy Khyber sword
Khyber Sword

The sword known as “Khayber Sword” is named after the famous mountain pass between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Although it is found all around: India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and also the bordering countries of Central Asia. The Khayber sword comes in different sizes, from large knife size to huge 40 plus inches blades. Very similar shape to all: Single edged with heavy triangular blade and strong T spine. The better blade will be forged from Watered steel or pattern welded steel. The grips will come with a variety of materials. Mostly wood, horn, bone, ivory metal or jade.
This exemplar shown here is has some Persian flavor and we think it is coming probably from the neighboring central Asian countries. It exhibit slightly different and interesting blade: Slightly double curved with a Pronounced ridged T spine and enhanced edge. Long back edge and a thickened tip. Steel grip with split shaped pommel. Steel bolsters and grip straps. All handle parts are decorated with silver koftgari inlay work
Blade length 23 inches. Total length 28 inches. Very good condition. Minor losses to the silver inlay work. No scabbard.
