Turkish / Ottoman Kalkan Buckler

An 18 C. small Ottoman buckler made of a heavy leather strips spirally bound core and set in a steel rim. The center of the front side is of conical shape reinforced with many steel ribs around the buckler mounted on the steel rim through decorative brass tokens.
The handle is made of braided leather, split at each end to three arms. The inside surface was covered with heavy fabric and leather, now mostly gone.
Rare Authentic 18 C. buckler. Unusual form with its conical shaped center. Diameter 10 inches. Height 4 1/2 inches. Very good condition to age, save the worn inside cover.
