Trousses (set of several blades and accessories) are a common in the Ottoman cultures and comes in a variety of combinations:  Several knives and/or knives and forks and similar combinations. Size also ranges from 10 inches of the smaller ones to 25 inches and more of the bigger ones. The bigger sets where used as hunting utensils. The smaller ones for eating.


The Ottoman trousse offered here is of Balkan origin. It comprises two small knives with. Well made signed blades with bone grips decorated with line of brass nails.  Brass bolsters (one missing) . Scabbard with two separate compartments and steel locket and chape,  bound with leather strip. A good complete 19C. set.

Blades are 4 1/2 inches (11.5 cm) long. Total length in scabbard 11 1/2  inches (29cm). Very good condition.
