Silver Mounted Knife from Tibet

A typical heavy knife from Tibet. late 19 – Early 20 C. Shrt heavy single edged blade, forged from an old file. Large silver handle with s engraved silver grip and large cylindrical pommel delicately chased and chiseled with flowers and birds. Silver fluted wide cross guard very finely chased. The scabbard is covered with leather and mounted with heavy silver locket and chape. Both highly and densely chased with flowers and animals. Although a rather simple working knife, the silver chasing and chiseling is exquisite.
Blade 10 inches (25 cm) long. Total length15 inches (38 cm). Weight 720 Grams. Very good condition.
