Pilipino Bolo Machete with Scabbard

Date: Early 20C.









This machete heavy knife is Filipino, early 20 C. Blade widening toward the tip with a straight, false edged spine. Wood handle with a long protrusion from the pommel, reminding in a way the handle shape of a pirah sword. Steel collar and cross guard. Original wood scabbard bound with rattan strips and partially painted black, including the original thick cotton thread belt.
Blade length 15 inches (38 cm). Width 2 1/2 inches (6 cm). Total length (in scabbard) 23 inches (58 cm). very good condition. Scabbards for these Bolo machetes are quite scarce and not an easy find.
