Heavy Rare, Unusual Knife

Large and heavy knife of the YAO people from Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania.

Engraved  blade 10 inches long 3 inches wide.  Ivory handle. Total length 16 inches. Very good condition.

The origin of this type of knife was a matter of numerous discussion on the network. It was attributed to India, Afghanistan, Central Asia, North Africa and even Scandinavia and Inuit. But it is YAO, East Africa.

This heavy knife is coming from the collection of Mr. Seward Kennedy, a vast collection of ethnographic articles.
