Korambi Sickle Dagger

The “Korambi” Also known as “Korambit” and/or “Lawi Ayam” is a small crescent shaped knife with heavy blade and short handle that continue the curvature of the blade. Common in Sumatra but also found in Java and Sulawesi. The Korambi is held with the blade pointing upward to allow an upward strike.
The exemplar shown here has a bit unusual curved blade slender and double edge. steel bolster and wood grip with a hole through in the pommel to allow a better grip with the index finger. Polished Wood scabbard. Silver chape (later).
Blade 6 inches long. Total length 9 inches. Very good condition. Sumatra, mid – late 19C.
