Fine and Unusual Jambiya dagger from India, Probably from the Deccan. In a way it reminds the family of daggers called Indo-Arab which combine Arab style daggers with Indian daggers. A double edged curved steel blade with a central rib 8 inches long. Whole silver hollow handle with hinged pommel cover that exposes a hidden compartment. Whole silver scabbard, very finely pierced and engraved in a complicated floral design. Total length 13 1/2 inches. Very good condition. very elegant dagger, India mid 19C.
