Indian Khanjar Dagger with Pattern Welded Blade

Date: Late 19 - early 20C.









This Khanjar Dagger is late 19 – Early 20C. Very well made . The blade is finely forged from pattern welded blade woith a styled flower image piercd at the blade forte. The handle is Ivory with good age color. It should be noted that the blade shape reminds similar blades of the Moroccan Koumaya daggers: Single edge at the top and double edge below. However the handle shape as well as the scabbard mounts and cover are very Indian in style and colors.
Original scabbard covered with green velvet and mounted with copper locket and chape. (with may be traces of previous gilding).
Blade 9 1/2 inches. Total length (in scabbard) 16 Inches. Very good condition. Age cracks and good age patina on the handle
