A Very fine small Indian shield of exhibition quality gold decoration, of shallow convex iron, fitted with four domed bosses corresponding to enarmes on the inside, the outer face finely decorated with a delicate arrangement of scroll work, tendrils and geometric designs. 12 ¼ in diameter. very good condition, inner lining fabric is partially missing.
An almost identical decoration is on shield published at Splendeur Des Armes Orientales by Ricketts and Missillier 1988, Figure 241 Page 141 and both must have been made by the same workshop
