Bugis (Buginese) people are the biggest ethnic group from Sulawesi (Celebes) Island. They carry a very typical Keris dagger: Rather short with massive blade, scabbard with somewhat square lines and a pistol grip handle. Sometimes the handle is of Sumatra style like the case here.
This fine Bugis Keris Dagger is late 19 – early 20C.It has a straight blade of flat diamond cross section and with a fine clear pamor structure. Very finely carved ivory grip with brass mendak. Classical Buginese wood scabbard.
blade 15 inches long, Total Length 18 inches. Very good condition.
