395$ Exl. VAT
Origin: China
Date: Early 19 C.

The origin of the trousse known as “Chinese eating set” is most probably Manchuria, and it penetrated the Chinese world with the reign of the Manchu Qing dynasty. As from the 18C. and on, similar sets spread all over the area under Chinese influence from Tibet to Mongolia . We have seen similar sets also in Japan and Korea.
The Chinese trousse shown below is smaller variant than the common sets but very well made. A well forged steel blade most probably laminated steel with ridged spine, decorated with gold inlay marks. Green dyed ivory handle and scabbard with steel mounts decorated brass inserts. Brass scabbard hanging ring styled as a Dragon head. Pair of bone chopstick.
Blade 3 1/2 inches (9 cm). Total length 8 inches (20 cm). Go condition to age. Probably early 19 C. or earlier
