: Fine Bugis Keris Dagger with Gilded silver scabbard

Bugis (Buginese) people are the biggest ethnic group from Sulawesi (Celebes) Island. They carry a very typical Keris dagger: Rather short with massive blade, scabbard with somewhat square lines and a pistol grip handle.

This fine  Bugis Keris Dagger is late, mid 20C. very well made and with massive wavy blade. of fine and clear pamor structure.  Impressive black horn  handle. Scabbard of classical Buginese form covered with finely chased gilded silver.

blade 14  inches long, Total Length 18  inches. Fine condition. Very minor losses to the gilding. Small damage to the handle from penetrated blade tang.
