The Badek (Badik) is a very common side knife from Indonesia. The most typical feature of the Badek is its pistol grip. From its native Sulawesi, the Badek spread to Java, Borneo, Sumatra and as far as the Malay Peninsula, creating a wide variety typical to each region and/or ethnic group.
The Badek shown here has an unusual finely fullered blade 7 inches long with 3 inches back edge. Polished black horn handle with bone mounts and pommel cap. Wood scabbard with horn locket and chape. Total length (in scabbard) 11 inches. Very good condition. Fine 19C. authentic knife.
