Fine and Large Silver Mounted Khanjar – East Turkey – Kurdistan – Iraq
Origin: East Turkey - North Iraq
Date: Second half of the 19 C.









This large Khanjar is coming from Eastern regions of Turkey or from Northern Iraq. Most probably used by Kurdish peopleĀ residing n this area.
Blade is double edged, forged from Sham style watered steel (Wootz). The blade is shorter than the scabbard which is quite common to similar daggers. Silver mounted handle on a wood grip finely executed filigree work. Whole silver scabbard with typical granulation decoration.
Blade length 9 1/2 inches (24 cm). Total length 20 1/2 inches (42 cm). very good condition. Minor blackened spots on the blade. Light dents on the silver back side of the scabbard.
Impressive and authentic Khanjar. 19 C.
