The Sewar knife from Sumatra . is characterized by its heavy blade that may come in various lengths, from 5 inches and up to a machete size blade. Also classical is the down extending protrusion from the scabbard mouth (Cangge).
The one shown here is a fine old Sewar dagger / knife from central Sumatra. Late 19 C. This exemplar is one of the finest we have seen. The blade is massive 15 inches long and of very good pamor structure. The grip is carved ivory with carved pommel top. Brass collar. Wood scabbard with large ivory mouth with the classical Cangge deeply and delicately carved with floral design. Ivory tip to the scabbard. Total length in scabbard 20 inches. Very good condition. Exceptional Swear.
