Fine and large “Emambele” axe of the Mangbetu

Probably the best known and representative of the Mangbetu people is the emambele axe, with its typical sharply curved sickle shaped blade. Very common on the market but not many of higher quality.
The emambele axe offered here employ a large forged iron blade with three holes and three blade protrusion. Beautifully carve handle.
Blade 11 inches. Total length 15 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Good untouched age patina on the blade. Authentic and original implement, early 20C.
