Fine 19C. Silver Mounted Indian Khanjar

Indian daggers with curved or slightly re-curving double edged blades are common to North India in the late 18 and well into the 20C. These daggers are Generally referred to as “Khanjar”. Indian Khanjars appears in a variety of materials and decoration styles
The fine Khanjar dagger offered here is a good exemplar of the style. Very Good steel blade with a thickened tip. the top of the blade is finely etched in an interlacing pattern. Whole silver handle delicately engraved. Leather covered scabbard with finely chased, pierced and engraved silver locket and chape.
Blade 11 1/2 inches (29 cm). Total 17 inches (43 cm). Very good condition. Late 19 – Early 20 C. Rajasthan.
