This very fine Khanda sword is Indian, probably North India, mid 19C. Long and wide blade forged from watered steel (Wootz) The blade is riveted to the handle through two long langets. Steel basket style handle with pommel spike. The grip is bound with twisted silver wire. The handle, the langets and the pommel spike are very richly decorated with gold inlay decoration. The cross guard finials are set with corals and turquoise stones. Fabric covered scabbard with gilded pierced mounts..
Blade 32 1/2 inches long. Total length 41 inches. Very good condition
