Barutdan ( Or Baruddan) is the Indian class name for horns and flask for black powder. However, in the community of arms and armor collection it refer mostly to the fully closed circle shaped horn. The circular shaped horn is also common to many other cultures: Russia, Ottoman empire and Arab cultures to mention few.
The Barutdan offered here is Indian, mid 19 C. Made of large light colored horn decorated with circle shaped stamps. The wide side of the horn is closed with beautifully painted wood and ribbed wood plug.
Diameter 7 1/2 inches. Very good condition. Minor age cracks on the horn body.
