Yataghan Sword
5,495$ Exl. VAT
Origin: Balkan
Date: 1790

This fine Yataghan sword is from the Ottoman Empire. Finely forged blade 22 inches long, slightly down curving, very richly decorated with silver inlay (true inlay) and dated to 1205 (1790 in the Gregorian calendar). The massive grips are cut and carved from elephant ivory with big square ears. The gilded silver grip strap and bolsters are decorated with filigree work and set with round coral stones. The scabbard is heavy silver, very finely chased. Total length 29 inches. The size and shape of the grips suggest a Balkan origin. Very good condition. Small damage to the right bolster.
