The Vere people reside in West Africa, in Cameroon and Nigeria. Swords and daggers of the Vere people characterized by their finely cast brass handles and scabbard fittings.
The dagger offered here is an early exemplar, early 20C. or may be earlier. Solid blade of shallow diamond cross section, lightly incised. Beautifully cast brass handle with hood shaped pommel.
Blade 6 3/4 inches (17 cm). Total length 9 1/2 inches (24 cm). Good condition to age. Heavily patinated blade. No scabbard
