Double Jian Short Sword (Shuangjian)

Date: Late 19 - early 20C.












A classic example of the double sword set in one scabbard (Shuangjian) . Short blades version. Blades of flat diamond cross section with triangular tips. Untouched blades surface and probably of laminated structure. Â Ribbed polished hardwood grips with heavy brass cross guards and pommels. Rye skin covered scabbard with five brass mounts densly decorated with Chinese symbols and writing.
Blades 16 inches (41 cm) each. Total length 25 inches (63 cm). Very good condition. All parts with original untouched patina. Authentic, late 19 – early 20C.
