The swords and daggers of the Baule tribe are quite rare and sought after by collectors of African weapon / tribal arts. The Baule people  reside in Ivory Coast and Neighboring Ghana and known to be masters of wood work and wood engraving. We offer here for sale a rare find of a dagger and a belt of the Baule. The blade is leaf shaped, 10 inches long 3 inches wide well forged. The handle is hardwood. The scabbard is wood, covered with hide and set with red painted shells. Total length of the dagger  17 inches. This dagger comes with an original Baule belt (Ammunition belt ??) made of hide with several compartments and flasks also decorated with fur and painted shells. Belt length 34 inches. Very good condition. The belt compartment is filled with wood pegs to maintain the shape. Scarce, authentic mid 20C. set.
