Origin: Georgia

Date: Late 19 C.

This flask of somewhat unusual shape is considered in several auction houses as a powder flask. We believe though that it is a wine flask. Nevertheless although not exactly a weapon it is a very good example of Caucasian decorative arts. A classical wood and silver work from the Caucasus.  A wine pouring flask, probably Georgian, late 19 C. Wood flask decorated with chased silver panels and a long silver neck.  and a wood cork to fill in the wine and lock the flask.

To add to the inclusion of this flask in our arms website, one is referred to the silver panels describing hunting scenes.

Length 10 inches (25 cm). Very good condition. Fine and rare wood and silver work. Authentic 19 C. Georgian work of art
