Shashqa – the legendary saber of the Caucasus drifted also to nearby regions. Mainly East to Central Asian countries like Uzbekistan and even further east to Afghanistan.

The Shashqa saber offered here is a good example. Coming from Bukhara / Uzbekistan. late 19 C.  A massive single edged blade with a short ricasso. Polished wood grips riveted to the tang with five silver rivets and silver rossetes. Silver bolsters and silver grip straps.

Blade 30 inches (76 cm) long 1 3/4 inches (4.5 cm) wide. Total length 35 1/2 inches (90 cm) long. Very good condition. No scabbard. A scarce fighting sword.
