Zaghnal , Also known as Zaghnol is a Rajput war axe, intended mainly to penetrate helmets and armor. it is well designed for this purpose. The heavy blade is triangular, slightly down curving with a thickened tip. The word zaghnal translates from old Persian to “Crow Beak” , perfectly describing the shape.
The Zaghnal offered here for sale is late 18 C., from Rajasthan. The massive heavy curved blade is finely fullered and decorated with images of fighting elephants. Steel haft.
Blade 8 inches. Haft 27inches long. Very good condition
