Mail shirts made in Circassia were traded all over the region. Characterized by the fine ring structure and arrangement.
This Mail shirt is 18C. probably made in Circassia and was extensively in use y the Ottoman military forces. It was found in the old city of Acre in the holy land. Heavy gauge steel rings with alternating rows arrangement: One riveted rings and one forge welded rings. This arrangement of rings is attributed to Circassia.
Weight about 13 Kg. 38 inches long, 42 wide (extended sleeves). Very good plus condition.
This mail is on display for several years in the Maritime Museum in Haifa, Israel.
