The Kattar push dagger is one of the most common and known blades of the Indian arsenal. It comes in endless number of sizes, shapes , styles, decoration and quality. It is probably coming from the Deccan 15 C.  and spread all over the subcontinent and produced well into the 20C.

The kattar offered here is of  outstanding beauty and workmanship in steel. Massive  blade with central fullers and thickened tip for armor piercing. The blade is forged from crucible steel (Wootz) with clear high contrast pattern. The blade is etched on purpose in the fullers area only whereas the edges are left highly polished.  The handles bars with twisted pattern are of unique shape.

Blade length 8 inches (20 cm). Total length 16 inches (41 cm). Very good plus condition. Outstanding 18 C. Kattar.
