The turban helmet or Tolga in Turkish, is an Ottoman variety of combat helmet which imitates the folds of a fabric turban. The Turban helmet appeared in the 14 C. and were in use with the ottoman warriors until late 16 C. and may be a bit later.

The Turban helmet offered here is probably from the 15C.  A helmet of   cylindrical form rising to a swollen band of vertical flutes narrowing to a pointed apex. The lower edge with surrounding holes for the aventail (The neck protecting chain mail) at the base.

Diameter is 9 1/2 inches (24 cm). Height is 10 1/2 inches (27 cm). Good condition to age. Part of nasal guard is restored. Few age cracks and bents but the whole helmet holds very solid. A rare and original item.
