Exceptionally Fine Gold Mounted Assib Jambiya Dagger with Hipo Tusk Handle

The endless variety of styles and shapes of the Yemenite Jambiya daggers invites also some outstanding and unusual finds like the Assib Jambiya offered here. The name Assib is given to Jambiya daggers with the whole silver scabbards with high raising end and large thum (Garlic) tip. This style comes to a very fine expression in the Jambiya offered here.  Hipo tusk handle with gold medallions (tested) set with ruby stones. Heavy silver scabbard with long curved uprising silver tip richly decorated with 16-17 C. gold tokens (Known as Zecchino Ducat). Original leather back cover. Probably one of a kind special order coming from the Hadramout region in South Yemen

Very well made blade with a central rib 7 1/2 inches (19 cm) long. Total length 12 1/2 inches (32 cm). Very good plus condition. Minor losses on the handle. An exceptional find. Not many similar Jambiya daggers are known.
