Description

JAFLE Jambiya daggers from Hadhramout are QUITE similar to the silver mounted MADD jambiya daggers but usually coming with a heavy hide or leather short scabbard plain of any mounts. Like other jambiya daggers from the region are commonly having the handle made from exotic materials.

The exemplar offered here is of superb quality. Classical blade of very good quality with strong central rib (see comment below).  R horn handle with silver rosettes and a silver central band. Silver covered rear side. Original and old heavy leather scabbard.

Blade 7 1/2 inches (19 cm). Total 13 inches (33cm). Very good plus condition. Original nice patina on all silver parts and handle horn. Authentic and rare late 19 - early 20 C.

A note to the making place: The quality of the blade it was made in India for the Arab market and mounted by local Arab craftsman.
