Very Large Arab / Persian Hide Flask Made from Camel Scrotum

This type of Hide Powder Flask is often referred to as a 'camel scrotum flask'. Considering its shape, one can understand why. Many similar flasks in the Arab world were indeed made from the camel Scrotum hide, and the shape is perfect for its intended use as a powder flask. Many also were made from other animals hide. We can't say for sure however that this one was made from a camel scrotum hide, but if so, it should have been a very big camel.

This hide flask is 12 ½ inches (31 cm) long. Large and thick in comparison to the more common 8-9 inches long flasks. Very well made and stitched and its entire surface carved with scenes of wild animals attacking bovines.

This flask comes with its original leather strips binding and a suspension belt. Very good condition. Small loss to the binding strips.
