Very Good European Shamshir Sword

This shamshir sword is of European origin probably comes from East Europe. Hard to tell the exact origin.

Deeply curved blade with wedge cross section. The blade is interestingly forged from pattern welded steel where the pattern is clearly seen on the lower section of the blade on both faces. The rest of the steel is plain. There is no clear border between the patterned sections and the rest of the blade which indicate that the blade was forged from one steel ingot. This may be a result of selective heat treatment.

The grip is carved bone, steel curved cross guard with ball finials. Ribbed steel langets and ribbed pommel. A steel chain connects the pommel to the uprising side of the cross guard.

Blade length 31 inches (79 cm). Total length 36 inches (92 cm). Good condition. Small blackened area on the blade and few deeper corroded spots. No scabbard. An interesting 19 C. sword
