Silver Jambiya Dagger from Mecca - 14037

This very good Arab Jambiya Dagger is known as Mecca style, characterized by the silver scabbard and uprising scabbard tip. There are many discussion regarding this style of dagger and its origin, Mecca or Hadramouth in South Yemen. We think that this specific one is from Mecca. Early to mid 20 C. The blade is of good quality, 8 inches long with a central rib. The grip is silver finely engraved and set with filigree panels. The scabbard is engraved and filigree silver. Very good condition. Slightly damaged handle. Fabric back cover and scabbard inner liners are later.
